Advert description
Hello! If you (or your child!) see English on your timetable each day and groan, I hope to be able to help you develop a love for the fun and life in literature, whether it be in more complex bawdy Shakespearean innuendo, nebulous modernist prose, or employing the imagination to create a vivid creative writing piece, while strengthening technical analysis and locution (rhetoric) skills to achieve the results you want.
I am an A-Level student currently studying English, Philosophy and History at a school in Hammersmith. I achieved all 9s in my GCSE qualifications and the second highest exam board grade in the country in my English Literature GCSE. I have experience tutoring in younger students in 11+ and GCSE.
For GCSE, we will go into depth on texts you are currently studying, operating in close textual analysis and drawing out clinical pieces of technique (poetic devices, metaphors, syntax etc.) to relate them thematically. For 11+, we will work on comprehension and grammar knowledge, as well as how to write a capturing piece of creative writing, looking at examples and coming up with a bank of 'power phrases' to use in exams.
'Wisely and slow; they stumble that run fast.' (Romeo and Juliet Act II, Scene III).
