in the year that I have spent working as a tutor part-time, and during my own A-level experience helping other students in my class and the years below, I've come to understand that the key to 'getting' English Literature is to make the text work for the student. By instilling in them the confidence to make judgments on their evaluation of a text and being able to interchangeably parse a text on both a micro and macro level to support these judegments, a 9 or A* is within easy reach of the student.
