Advert description
I make every student feel SEEN. This is such an important crux in teaching; it’s the first step in your blueprint to creating that relationship with them. Whatever their age, this is timeless as an approach.
I like to get to know the personality of the student, who are they? What are their strengths? What are their lesser strengths? (Deliberately not using syntax like “weakness” as this inherently places a negative energy on it; lesser strength, is a glass-half-full approach, focusing on its state as temporary!
I have a - borderline annoying - amount of energy. This carries the essence of any teaching - its delivery. How many times have we been stuck in a stuffy teaching room, just to not absorb the information and wish we were somewhere else? What a waste of time and energy.
Lastly, access - I make all content relative to each student in terms of their learning style/English fluency. For example, I tutored children in Asia, and worked through a two-tier filtering process in composing content - how comfortable and confident are they in themselves first and foremost, what are their performing capabilities as it relates to confidence and their fluency of language.
Figure these things out and we have a roadmap to really helping each student get the most out of their learning, and enjoying it at the same time.
