Advert description
Hello there! My name is Dhian, I am 24 years of age and I graduated with a 2:1 in Mathematics in 2019, I ardently gravitated towards maths at a young age which made it an undeniable choice to study at university. I studied a variety of complex modules such as: Modelling Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations, Non-linear Dynamical Systems and Nonlinear Optimisation as well as a wide variety of Statistical modules.
Since then, I have been working as a Learning Support Practitioner. I provide one-one and group maths sessions to students- some of which have learning difficulties -and also assist students in lessons, consequently, my communicational and interpersonal skills are exemplary to accommodate their educational experience. I teach Mathematics from the functional skills level up to the GCSE level, with a main focus on GCSE, with confidence in teaching all topics across each syllabus.
I have experience teaching many students from the ages of 13 to adults, all lessons are student centred based- taking into age and ability into consideration. 27 of the 30 students I have taught have passed which gives me a success rate of 90%. I acknowledge that all students, irrespective of age, can develop positive mathematical identities and become powerful mathematical learners; That being said, you can rely on me to get on with all students irrespective of their backgrounds and ability, no challenge is too big when you have a growth mindset!
In my lessons I aim to employ effective mathematics pedagogy while obtaining the balance between structure and fun. I will always adapt to the specific student, and I want them to feel as comfortable as possible so they can maximise learning. I will always show interest in the ideas students construct and express, no matter how unexpected or unorthodox.
I take student' competencies- including language, reading, listening skills and ability to cope with complexity, and mathematical reasoning -as the starting points for their planning and their moment-by-moment decision making.
Keeping fit is extremely important for me and it provides me with the fun, energetic personality I provide during lessons.
In my spare time I enjoy studying philosophy as well as a multiplicity of other non-fictional books. For a more relaxing and tranquil pastime I go on walks throughout beauteous locations to clear my mind.
