I am a native English speaker from the south of England with a particular interest in the derivatives of words. i speak italian

I have degrees in Languages and Linguistics and in Psychology.
My postgraduate teaching qualification has allowed me to work with young people from 5 to 21 years. My strength is English Literature and Language. I enjoy teaching English to foreign students not only because I'm interested to meet people of all nationalities but as someone who has an interest in learning languages, as an example, Italian and French, I am fascinated by how people interpret and learn to speak English . I think that having a knowledge of other languages has helped me appreciate the sort of errors non English speakers make.
My other passion is sport and participate in a range of sporting activities, I like to travel and have an interest in politics . I have just completed courses in Talking Therapy and Counselling which I believe help me to listen to and understand barriers students may have to learning. I try to encourage the student to do the talking and not interrupt or interject too quickly. I give the student the chance and the time and space to attempt to express themselves in English .
In lessons I like to find a balance between what a student needs to know to pass exams and what will help them in life generally. I think it is important to understand what the student wants from a lesson and whether they prefer a formal structured approach, including a high percentage of written work or purely conversation for different situations. I appreciate that the student may be adhering to a formal timetable to gain qualifications and if so we can follow the necessary format and curriculum.
I can adapt lessons to suit particular needs and requests and would spend an initial period establishing what the student is hoping to gain from our lessons. However, I am friendly and flexible and I am aware that what a student sets out thinking they want to know may change over time.
