For beginner students, I believe it is rather important to focus on exercises and different studies that will develop the players as whole. In other words, those exercises and studies combined with theory will allow the student to understand their intentions and will build their flexibility within their wrists and hands and fingers, as well as building a good posture when playing the violin. Exercises will be repetitive to begin with until the student becomes familiar with the understanding of the mechanism. Once that is achieved, we will move on to pieces and melodies and build "the taste" of musicality. After that, we can focus on building strong technique and revising it every couple of lessons for security. This ensures learning is retained so that this student can make constant progress in their progress.
The intermediate and advanced students can address any sort of question/s related to music and violin when coming to a lesson. We will set some goals and steps towards achieving your goals - this may be through studies, exercises and, theory. We will be working through melodies and passages that will develop your ear for intonation, and understanding of the phrase itself, for example, this could be a chord or a chromatic passage that seems atonal or is atonal, or developing a musical sense and understanding of phrasing.
Every student is different and everyone has their own abilities and strengths, but I am here to help you overcome any difficulties met and make your learning more enjoyable.
