I don’t really believe you can teach songwriting, but I do believe you can share secrets to help encourage creativity, understand the structures of songs, and trust your gut instincts when it comes to songwriting. Students bring songs they are working on, or we discuss techniques and I set briefs. We take apart songs we know and love to see how they tick. We listen to the greats and then listen to what comes from within us. This is how I help people to develop their songwriting skills.
