Advert description
I have BSc (Zoology), Leeds University, MSc DIC Imperial College, PhD Birkbeck College London University (Insect Biology). For many years I've taught Biology to UK students of all ages and to overseas students wanting to be taught in English, enabling all of my students to achieve their best grades.
My teaching at A level specifically aims to introduce students to methods and ways of thinking that enable them to achieve their best grades and so enable them to pass to the university of their choice. Adding value to what I teach is my consistent aim and tailored to the individual student's ambitions. The destinations of my students include Oxbridge and the other Russell Group universities. My experience includes UCAS guidance for students.
I've been an examiner for GCSE and Item Writer for Key Stage 3, GCSE and A level exams. Writing many published course books for Biology at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A level and at undergraduate level is an important aspect of my work. These books are written for the UK examination boards and overseas, and are available in shops, from the publishers and online. My undergraduate teaching includes subject specific topics to undergraduates of all ages. Undergraduate topic areas include Evolutionary Theory, the Biology of Medicine, Neuroendocrinology and general topics at introductory level.
As head of department, I've encouraged teams of biologists and scientists to present and teach their subjects to high standards and in ways that play to individual strengths. My work experience as HOD includes initiating plans and leading discussions that result in the re-fit and new build of teaching laboratories. Currently my teaching is online to overseas students, and online and in person to pre-university students and undergraduates. I'm Director for two programmes of undergraduate study designed for adult students.
