Advert description
I am graduating from the University of Leeds this June with a BA History degree. Although I have no professional experience tutoring I believe my skills will offer excellent teaching.
During my degree I have gained a wealth of knowledge on different historical periods and methods of presentation. These types of work range from written work to oral presentations. Due to this wide range of completed assignments, I will be able to offer a varied way of learning for each client depending on their preferred way of teaching and what engages them the most. In doing this I hope each client will become more enthusiastic with the topic which will undoubtedly help them improve their learning.
Through all of these methods of learning it has given me a clear sense of how to achieve high marks at a university level of history. For example, analytical and research skills, written technique and structure, and presentation and referencing are all essential skills that are applicable to A Level history courses.
Despite my lack of professional tutoring experience, I will still be able to deliver high quality tutoring for a number of reasons. Firstly, being fresh from a university, the ways I have been taught are at the forefront of the subject and by some of the most notable historians in their fields. This means the ideas I hope to pass on will give clients the edge in their work. Additionally, it has only been 3 years since my own A Level history, so I have a clear understanding of how the courses work and what is expected in the marking criteria to achieve the best grades. Building on this, I feel I will have a good connection with students as I am still at an age at which they can relate to, hopefully making tutoring a more comfortable experience and making it easier to convey ideas across.
In terms of areas of study, I have undertaken a wide spread of topics from an array of medieval history and modern history periods. These topics are as follows:
Undergraduate - The industrial revolution, Imperial Germany-Stalin and Stalinisation, Soviet Russia, The Tudors, The English Civil War, a wide array of general modern history.
A Level - Russia-English Civil War, coursework on Prussia and Imperial Germany.
GCSE - Nazi Germany, The Tower of London, The history of America, Crime and punishment, Elizabethan England.
