Let's have fun with Biology !!

To begin with I have a First Class Degree in Biomedical Science so Biology is my strength. My current employment is working as a AHCS Registered Genetic Technologist for the National Health Service (NHS). I have a vast array of skills from mentoring and doing presentations at work to a wide variety of ages including GSCE level students. Ever since doing cool biology experiments in the classroom and learning about the human body; I loved biology. My favourite part of the syllabus is the Human Body and the Organ Systems/Physiology, Cell Biology, Homestasis, basically everything really.

In my current work I always attend school events organised by the hospital to teach about biology and genetics. I also did a podcast on Spotify with a clinical scientist describing the path of the patient blood sample throughout the laboratory. I can guarantee that my confidence will infuse into the students confidence so they can have fun in learning.

My lessons/tutoring is fun, to engage with the student to ask as many questions as possible so that I can increase their confidence especially during coursework and exams. I like to do little mini-tests to ensure they increase their memory skills throughout.

I also promote Apprenticeships education with West Midlands Regional Genetics Laboratory encouraging individuals from all backgrounds/ages to apply for Genetic Apprenticeships programme. In these programmes aspiring students are mentored by myself and other members of the team. Please view the link below to see me presenting about the Apprenticeships. My first job was a Secondary School Laboratory technician where I would set up and assist in experiments for Science Teachers. The Biology experiments were always the best and most fun. This experience would make me most suitable as I have existing knowledge of the syllabus as well taking me back to the fun days of school.

I want the best future for the student. My tutoring goes beyond the lesson where I can also mentor students about their future prospects and wishes/careers aspirations.
