Usman Mahmood

I have a driven attitude to provide tutoring to Biology students. I currently work as a registered Genetic Technologist. A useful scope of experience that I can bring is my mentorship skills which I do daily in my job wherein I train other members of staff. I always reminisce my University, College and High school days where I am bought back to my favourite subject Biology. Outside of work I have tutored students locally in my spare time.

A particular advantage strength is my experience as a school laboratory technician where I would set up biology experiments and would go through GCSE biology syllabus with the Science Teachers. This shows I have some existing knowledge of school curriculum.

Tutoring is an enjoyable and rewarding experience and I am dedicated on improving not only student achievement, but also engagement. In my work I have attended healthcare science week/events to teach school students biology/genetics. Furthermore, my ability to mentor and tutor has reached University academia level wherein I taught genetic practical’s to Biomedical Students.

Therefore I have a range of methods from presentations, activities, quizzes and setting homework. I also like to develop methods so they can increase revision skills when the time comes for exams.

Learning should be fun, interactive and motivate you for the rest of your life. My specialty is to not only tutor but motivate give students the confidence to excel. I care about development and want the best results and I can discuss career aspirations with them.
