Hello,
I am Adrian, an experienced teacher/tutor from Liverpool.
I have taught English on a paid basis in Thailand and as a volunteer in both Sri Lanka (2009) and currently in the UK with Action Tutoring. I have taught English Language, English Literature, TOEFL, Thai Onet (equivalent to UK “A” Level) and conversational English.
I have taught all ages of foreign students as well as 15- 17-year UK based students.
I have also taught Maths and English in the UK to private students aged from 7 to 18 at a private centre in Crosby (Edukate).
I came into teaching later in life – after many years working in the Civil Service and for local government. Despite this, (or because of this), I have a fresh and exuberant outlook on teaching – indeed I am very enthusiastic about teaching English particularly as this is a subject close to my heart.
I genuinely enjoy teaching – it is both a rewarding and challenging career – but one which has a direct effect on a student’s prospects. I am very conversant in English – I know all aspects from grammar to punctuation to lexicology to creative writing and am confident that I am able to impart my knowledge and experience to students.
I have a patient, friendly demeanor and I always strive to create a positive and engaging learning environment for my students – I strongly believe that you should do a job you enjoy to the best of your ability – otherwise you are failing your students.
Outside of my work, I enjoy word quizzes and games, watching movies, watching the mighty Liverpool FC and looking for ideas to enhance my teaching skills. I also enjoy walks and travelling (especially to warm countries).
I hope that this brief self-description helps to paint a picture of me – any questions or further information, please do ask.
Thanks and regards,
Adrian
