Advert description
Hi, I’m Emma, a fourth-year chemistry student at the University of Warwick, starting at PhD at loughborough in the coming months. Science has always been a keen passion of mine from a very young age, from making rockets to exploding volcanos, I was always the first to try! The never-ending knowledge it brings, the endless questions and knowing this explains how the world works is such an engaging thought and I’d love to share this excitement with other students. Another keen interest is sociology, studying the people that surround us and learning how and why people act in certain ways is fascinating. There's no doubt that exams are scary and exams were always a big down-fall for me from the stress they brought, but practice and hard work, exams became much more comfortable to me from GCSE to A-level through many techniques such as revision sessions, past papers and of course the help from my science tutor! My first year at university has been amazing, I love my course and all the friends I've made and have enjoyed being part of a dance society, allowing me to continue my passion for dance which I started at the age of 3. My main aim is to show students that hard work pays off and the work you put in at this age, will give a much greater outcome in the future. Being able to share knowledge with other students to build confidence, boost their grades and improve their mental attitude towards education will be a highly rewarding experience.
My main aim is to ensure the students are engaged and enjoying the session. I want to keep the sessions fun and interactive to allow them to feel comfortable answering questions and asking for help. Firstly, I’d get to know the student with some friendly questions about their hobbies and interests and what they do and don't enjoy within school. The questions will then focus on the particular subject of the session to find out what knowledge they already know and where there needs to be more focused learning to improve that particular area. I’d start with questions about the topic of that session and then repeat them either at the end of that session or when the sessions for that particular topic had finished. To maintain constant application to exams, I’d start the first part with integrated questions within the content and the second part would consist of more exam style questions.
