Approachable, empathetic, kind, clear speaker, patient, humble, critical thinker

As a student I have been deeply impacted by good teachers and I have always appreciated them until this day! A good tutor can turn over a new leaf and from my personal experience I know a student's needs. In my sessions, I focus on 3 key areas: a. Understanding that every student has their own strengths and weaknesses and tailoring teaching accordingly, for example for a visual learner I focus on explaining ideas using visuals rather than texts or audio. b. Being patient. Everyone needs time to process information. I am careful to plan my sessions strategically so that students are not bogged down with information and have time to rehearse whats been taught already. I also start off each session with a brief Q/A recap of the previous session and this is an active process and requires the students to participate thus helping them link processes and ideas. c. Encourage critical thinking. The human brain is fantastic at critiquing, however, the current education system disallows this to a large extent by drawing boundaries to ones thinking. I encourage my students to ask questions no matter how relevant or irrevalant they may be. Questioning is the key to clarifying the basics! And as someone who asks a lot of questions myself, I appreciate teachers who are patient enough to answer me without making me fell silly.
