Advert description
With a BA (Hons) in Business and Marketing, two postgraduate degrees in Project Management and E-Commerce Applications, and a PhD in Hospitality from the University of Sunderland, I have a solid academic foundation that supports my teaching and research expertise. My doctoral research on food safety culture in luxury hotels demonstrates my commitment to addressing global challenges in the hospitality industry.
For nearly 20 years, I have blended academic roles with business and hospitality consultancy, enriching my teaching with practical insights. As an Academic Tutor at the University of Sunderland since 2019, I have taught various business and tourism modules, such as Contemporary Global Issues in Business and Planning Hospitality Environments, focusing on global challenges, sustainability, and hospitality design through evidence-based and experiential learning. Additionally, I actively supervise postgraduate research, guiding project development, data collection, and analysis, enhancing the university’s research productivity and student employability by bridging academic theory with practical applications.
Previously, I spent seven years teaching tourism management in Greece, specialising in
principles of marketing, event management, public relations and research methods. My teaching emphasises real-life case studies and problem-based learning to equip students with industry-relevant skills.
Apart from my teaching experience, my contribution to research reflects my publications in respected journals. I have also presented my work at international conferences, further establishing my reputation as a researcher.
I am also a certified Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and serve as a reviewer for the International Journal of Tourism Research and Event Management, strengthening my engagement with the academic community. In addition, my membership in professional organisations such as ATHENA keeps me connected with current industry trends and academic networks.
