Advert description
I have a degree in Creative Writing and Contemporary Culture and have spent most of my professional life working as a copywriter and communications consultant. My main niche has been in creating learning materials for adult education, and I've worked as a tutor for GCSE and A Level English as part of that experience. I have also worked in key stage one as a teaching assistant, supporting early readers with phonics and learning to read and write.
As you can see, my experience covers a wide range of ages, and I have worked with children from pre-school age right through to A Level, supporting them in everything from first phonics to A Level coursework, to a very high standard. Most of my tutoring work has been with children and young people on the Gifted and Talented register, boosting their learning and potential grades to the highest standards.
I am available to support in your home in the Bedfordshire area, or via Zoom/Teams/Whatsapp video calling for remote support.
My style is very comfortable and informal, and building a good relationship with the tutee is paramount. The first meeting is a 20 minute informal chat with the student and parent/guardian to understand the areas for support, the goal of the tutoring, and whether I am the best person to provide that support and gel well with the young person. The best results come from us having a good relationship, and having aligned goals.
I tend to use humour as a learning tool and to build that relationship, and it's a meeting of equals, not me in a position of authority giving instruction: I am not a teacher, I am a friend here to help them achieve their potential.
