Whether in person or virtually my lessons are very informal and comfortable. I build rapport and a strong relationship with tutees and students, and I am here as an equal, to support your learning, not as a figure of authority who gives instruction.

I know that the answers to your learning are already within your understanding: I simply give you support and guidance which helps you to explore your own knowledge, guide additional learning by offering resources and direction, and help you to reach your full potential.

Before we start I ask for information on what is being studied and what texts or resources you have for that learning, which I then have copies of so that we can work from the same foundation. I then prepare some suggested activities and learning materials which develop your understanding of the task and the text, and we work together on any key assignments.

I have many years of experience and am myself qualified to a high standard, and have worked for many years as a freelance communications consultant: my area of expertise is in adult learning, and in writing learning materials and programmes for adult education.

I have also worked with children from pre-school through to A-Level, supporting everything from first phonics and learning to read and write through to writing A Level coursework. I have also supported some university students in writing their dissertations. though this is an area where I have less practice.
