Advert description
My experience as a Tutor is has been built on a foundation of gigging, touring, recording, creation/composition, co-production/engineering/mixing and, basically hanging out with any person or band that I can glean ideas form or impart ideas to.
The main idea is to simply get you playing (especially if you're a beginner) and applying everything you are taught with a view towards creativity and composition.
I must admit that I'm a 20th century Dude who is still navigating the madness that is 21st century technology and music but I'm still here to offer my own input.
To give an idea of what I've done and do, over the years I have played Jamaican/Caribbean genres (Reggae, Ska, Rocksteady, Calypso/Soca),
Rock genres (Punk, Metal, Classic Rock, Adult Oriented Rock)
whilst also taking cues from Progressive and New Wave Pop, Jazz, Blues and Classical music. And, Lord Have Mercy, don't forget the Fonk - Funk to you, that is!
Though I may have favourite musical styles and genres, my ear has tuned in to certain styles of music that are essentially not quite my cup of tea because of great songs. This is to say that my favourite artists create tunes that don't please me but, every now and then an artist or genre of music that isn't in my favoured list can offer great songs that, for me, transcend all musical barriers. I have come to believe that turning your ear towards that which brings new influence and wider perspective helps progress and though widening horizons, streamlines and focuses the individual - Tutor or Student.
The Big Picture is taking everything you know, have heard, have maybe even turned your nose up to and using it to reinforce that which you want to learn or master.
Open your ears and your mind and very good things will follow-that's my reckoning anyway. I invite you to take that journey with me.
