I have been a Gigging, Touring, Recording, Creating/Composing Guitarist/Bassist for over 40 years.
I have played numerous genres during that time including, Punk, Reggae, Ska, Rock, Metal, Funk and Soul. Whilst playing all of these genres I have given an eager ear to Jazz, Blues, Progressive and Alternative Pop and Classical.
This means that my playing is influenced by all aforementioned genres, irrespective of the style of music I play at any moment. In essence, I like to think that I have my own jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none playing style personal to only Little Ol' Me!
It is this kind of journey I like to take with anyone wishing to learn with keen eyes and open ears, using everything they love, respect and enjoy about music as a means to enlighten their learning.
I wouldn't be trying to make you just like me, but consider this, my phone playlist includes Bob Marley, Sex Pistols, Simon and Garfunkel, David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters, Meshuggah, Monkees, Ray Charles, Rolling Stones, Otis Redding, Staple Singers, Slipknot, Toots and the Maytals, Fishbone, De La Soul, Incubus, James Brown, Lene Lovich, Living Colour, The Specials, The Kinks, The Jam, Culture, Desmond Dekker, Snapcase, Tribal Seeds, Pennywise, NOFX, Jah Sun, Redbone, Consolidated, Gnarls you starting to get it?
Repetition is everything, listening is key, an open mind is helpful and jamming holds Holy Grail status.
Give me a shout sometime, you might just enjoy yourself, have a bit of a giggle and learn lots of profound stuff along the way.
Music is a gift to us all, why not let's embrace this gift and use it to learn and play that which we love and admire?
Come and join me, a great musical odyssey awaits.
