Hey!
I’m currently employed full-time as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school in Barnet, North London, where I've been for 1 year.
During my final year at university (2021/22) I became a Fully Accredited Level 2 LTA Tennis Coach (a mouth full, I know); and after gaining First Class Honours in BA in Ancient History & History, I set my sights on getting into education. As a TA I work with dozens of students every day, particularly those with SEN and EHCPs, and this has given me an even greater understanding and experience of facilitating learning amongst young people, building upon my previous experiences as a tennis coach. Whilst I'm new to tutoring, I believe the skills I have accumulated will serve both me and my students well in lessons. I have a calm disposition, am never judgemental of anyone's abilities or where they're at in their academic journey; all I care about is helping people improve upon where they're already at. I'll meet my students on their level and foster a positive, healthy and encouraging learning environment for all.
What's been my journey in education?
I began my journey in a state school, but between the ages of 9-16 I was lucky enough to attend private schools, which was fantastic for someone of my nature. An avid reader since childhood, and someone who has always found passion in learning inside and outside of school, I loved being challenged at school and seeing myself progress. My aim with tutoring is to infuse my students with a similar passion for learning. As a creative person who enjoys reading and writing (poems, prose, music) I approach tuition with fresh and exciting ideas and methods, whilst keeping it fun and engaging.
How does that sound?
Yonas :)
