Research and teaching expertise: I am an Environmental Scientist, undertaking teaching and research that takes an earth systems approach to improving our understanding of processes responsible for the transfer and accumulation of chemical species within human ecosystems and environmental health which covers the transport/behaviour of pollutants in the environment (air quality, land degradation and remediation, and aquatic biogeochemistry), evaluating the impact on ecosystems and for human health. Data quality, analysis methods are important developmental parts of this, and work on ensuring robust information is produced.
Teaching subject such as environmental health. My profile has developed through multi and interdisciplinary collaborative working both locally and internationally. Created and facilitated curriculum on academic and life skills, leadership development, and career planning. Research funding obtained from diverse sources, including national and international research foundations, industry and government.
Relevant teaching and research skills: Teaching and research skills in environmental public health, management geography, geochemistry, ecological sustainability, environmental science, and earth system in postgraduate level.
Research skill in environmental sampling and analysis, environmental management, field work (UK/Europe, N/S Africa,); industrial partnerships/funding – Seureca (waste/resource management); soils and sediment, food-chain assessment; community and NGO engagement, government decision support; interdisciplinary working/project management. evolution of environmental management tools, issues of regulation and sustainability, and in the development of innovative which involves developing innovative multi-scale approaches for assessing vulnerability to climate change for dryland farming systems. Skills in using, spatial databases, ecological surveys, and field-based participatory studies within the broader understanding of how climate change affects food production and rural livelihoods.
