Lessons will be however student prefers, but a zoom meeting with a whiteboard is the best way to go. If they are shy or get anxious easily they are free to send me messages with questions about homework instead of calling me directly. I do not have a set lesson plan, because I plan to cater to each student individually and just provide general information, guidance, and advice.
I’ve been in advanced mathematics classes for atleast 6 years now, not because I’m a brainiac, but because I just understand math. I don’t know how to explain it, I just understand it more easily than others. Which is the reason why I want to be a tutor, because I have seen students who struggle to understand the teachers lessons, and I know that with patience and privacy, anyone can understand.
I myself have an issue with pride, where I find myself too embarrassed to raise my hand when the teacher stands up and asks, “does anyone have any questions?” But I know that outside the classroom, away from the eyes of my peers, I feel more comfortable to make mistakes and be wrong. Honestly, I feel more comfortable asking my peers questions than I do asking my teachers, which is another reason why I think I’d make a suitable tutor.
I also recognize that students involved in extracurricular activities are under pressure, and their busy schedules make homework difficult to get through after a tiring practice/game/rehearsal. Which is another reason why I want to offer my support and advice to anyone struggling to keep up with their workload.
