The number one foundation of any of my sessions is simplicity. The result is two-fold: students will have a clearer understanding of concepts and this will help them when attempting to work out more complex topics relating to it. Therefore, my sessions will aim to provide simple concepts that a readily understood then, at a more cerebral level, expand the concept to fit more detailed components into it. This will improve a students’ creativity as well as their clarity of reasoning.
As for the sessions themselves, I have always found that there is great merit with incorporating a more interactive approach to learning. The aim of this is to try and engage the students as best I can, and to show them the that there is real fun and enjoyment to be had in learning something no matter how academic it is. For students who especially struggle with the subject/language it is also a good way to connect with something that, conceptually, may have initially appeared insurmountable. Making a lesson interactive in my experience shows an alternative to learning that may have stereotypically been viewed as dull and boring. By showing this new pathway I am confident I will, in my lessons, be able to engage students in a fun but professional way.
My attention to detail is precise, I have learnt how to clearly organise and prepare through my years spent in and around academia. This, coupled with my fun and interactive sessions means that I will be able to show how learning and enjoyment are in fact two sides of the same coin.
