My lessons range from going through past papers, making bespoke presentations, using worksheets, and flashcards. Generally, I am a structured tutor who bases the lessons on the syllabus and teaches the answers the exam boards want you to say. This is the basic strategy I use. In this sense, I ensure plenty of time goes into maximising the marks one can attain in an exam paper.
However, I do allow for time in my lessons to learn about the subject holistically too, as I am a big believer in learning the topic, not just regurgitate what the exam board wants you to hear. This way, the student can think on their feet in the exam if an unexpected question was to arise.
Though I am generally structured, my teaching methods vary dependent on who I am tutoring. I understand first what areas need work, and how best the student engages in these lessons. My methods vary from rigid to laid back depending on the individual learning process. I create a productive learning environment and ensure the lessons are engaging.
I also believe in repetition, and always recap what we've learnt before moving onto new topics to ensure this remains. I usually recap through using fun methods such as kahoot and flashcards to gamify the experience.
