I have taught Art, Design, Advertising and Illustration for over 30 years now. In that time I've enjoyed working with students from all walks of life, from 15 to 80 years old and at most levels, from High School and National Certificate to Higher Education, and Leisure classes.
I very much enjoy teaching in a busy creative classroom/studio setting, but I find one-to-one lessons and mentoring by far the most rewarding, productive and enjoyable experience for both my students and myself. I love working closely with students to really help them to produce excellent creative work that will give them a professional portfolio that will take them on to HND, or Degree level study, or move them into a career in the Creative Industries. Or, even just help them to improve their basic drawing and design skills to give them more confidence in their work and themselves.
Many of my former students are now working as professional Artists, Illustrators, Graphic Designers and Art & Design teachers/lecturers. And several have even started their own successful Design and Art businesses over the years, which is extremely rewarding to see.
I also worked as a Copywriter/Art Director in Advertising for six years, so this helps me to pass on my knowledge and experience of working in the Creative Industries.
