Stephen Balfour

I am a composer and instrumentalist based in Clapham, London. I always bring a smile and positivity to all my lessons, as pupil enjoyment is at the forefront of my teaching practice.

Within theory and composition, I can teach a wide range of levels from beginners to advanced. I also have experience in tutoring pupils with GCSE music composition. I would be excited to tutor students through this qualification, as I understand GCSEs can be a daunting prospect.

I currently teach piano throughout south-west London from beginner up to grade 5. In lessons we will cover a host of topics, not just those specific to the instrument, as I aim to provide all pupils with a well-rounded musical education.

I graduated in 2021 from the Royal Academy of Music with a Masters in Composition and Licentiate in Music Education. Having graduated from the University of York in 2018 with a BA (hons) degree in Music, I have a received a diverse musical education. I am also a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.
