Hi! My name is Shannen and I have been an ESL teacher since 2020. Here is a little bit of information about how I teach.
Lessons are formed on a one on one basis and individual to each student. However, all areas are covered in classes. Some lessons/activities may be as follows:
Speaking - assessing speaking capabilities and practicing both fluency and accuracy. Learning synonyms and the pronunciation features associated with the English language. dissecting your speaking features and working on these in detail. Roleplay exercises and practicing many conversation or presentation types.
Reading - learning different skills associated with reading e.g. skimming, using different sources such as articles and short stories. Additionally, using sample papers from previous exams to learn the different questions and requirements that can arise.
Listening - learning many different features associated with listening such as pronunciation features, accents and more synonyms using different media. This includes; ted talks, news broadcasts etc.
Writing - learning how to form different pieces of writing like essays, letters, emails etc. Dissecting the writing process in the form of vocab, grammar, punctuation and also learning how to paraphrase. Furthermore, learning the appropriacy of different writing styles or vocab associated with different writing pieces.
