My lessons are conversational based on topics we use and need in daily life.
I usually end with a topic where students must say a few sentences.
As a volunteer teaching assistant i learned perseverance is the key. Lots of repitition and positive praise always encourage students.
I have been a volunteer teaching assistant for the past year in a reception class which i have really enjoyed. I feel that I have the ability to motivate, inspire and build rapport with students, parents and school staff. Over the year, I have learned how important it is for the school to provide a safe and happy learning environment for every child so that they can grow and fulfil their dreams.
I am creative and have been inspired b watching the progress of the students in the reception class this year. I have received 1 to 1 coaching and mentoring from the class teacher in delivering early maths, reading and writing. I have played a part in collecting evidence, making observations and feeding back on pupil’s performance to the class teacher. Using my creativity, I have set up displays and classroom areas to inspire and motivate pupils. I also share creative ideas with the Reception team.

I understand how important it is to promote pupils’ independence, self-esteem and to be inclusive. I model positive behaviour in the classroom and encourage pupils to treat their peers and teachers with respect. I am strongly committed to self improvements and development.

I have strong communication and interpersonal skills. I have supported parents with translation and advice when needed. I have taken part in team teaching with the class teacher and built strong relationships with the children.

As part of my role I have been helping the pupils with their learning, in particular with reading, writing and maths. I have supervised group activities in the classroom and outside play. I have also set up equipment for the lessons and ensured the classroom is a safe environment for the children to learn in and made sure the environment is tidy.
I have listened to children read and also told them stories.
