I have a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing and extensive experience teaching English literature and language to children aged 11-16 both privately and for online tuition platforms. I use a set of concise activities and questions in the first session to establish the student's competency and figure out clear goals for our time together. I also use the first session to familiarise myself with the student's curriculum and their own experience of their lessons. This way I come fully prepared to provide my students with a space away from their usual learning experience to find focus and build a different relationship with the subject. This way every lesson has focused attention and clearly takes place outside of regular learning environments. By prioritising students' associations with the subject, I have consistently found improvements in grades and improvements in student's enjoyment of the subject.
