Having spent a couple of decades as a business development adviser and trainer, I decided to take my skill set and follow my passion for training and teaching, as well as taking up a long-distance Psychology BA (Hons) degree (currently in year three of my studies). I have supported academics and authors with their writing as well as running writing workshops for PhD students looking to get the best out of their work.
My tutoring and teaching support background includes having worked with teenagers and young adults with complex educational needs, as well as adults re-entering higher education over the past five years. My experience comes from having supported pupils in secondary schools, psychiatric wards, and community and home settings.
I enjoy teaching students of all ages and working with both students and parents to create tailored tutoring plans to gain the best out of our time together.
I love creating lessons that are as fun as they are engaging by starting with a check in and quick warm up activity. I like to work with my students and their parents to set up a variety of activities that they enjoy to keep them interested and improve their learning.
I am a big advocate of developing a student’s independent learning skills, and like to incorporate targeted exercises in my lessons to boost their confidence and learning skills.
My lessons are structured using regular parental and student feedback, alongside regular progress check in sessions to ensure we keep on track and adapt as and when we need to.
