In my professional life I have made use of online resources to up-skill my team members. I have also had to design education programs to train my colleagues online on work systems that I was a key user for. I like to use a variety of teaching aids such as; powerpoint slides, whiteboards, videos, diagrams depending on the content that I am teaching.
I have pursued a number of professional development courses in the last few years, so I have a good understanding of study processes and techniques that I use to develop effective tutoring regimes for my students. I have recently completed my PMQ (project management qualification) and had to revisit revision techniques and understanding the style of learning that works for me.
I also understand the importance of adapting to each students learning style which I intend to reflect in my lessons. I would do this by asking my students questions regarding their study schedule, techniques and materials they use. For example, using diagrams, watching videos, completing past papers or if they prefer going through content and topics together.
I hope to create a comfortable environment for my student so that they feel welcome to ask any questions or share difficulties they are having with their learning. I also hope to practice a patient approach with my students as feeling nervous and or stressed can cause a lack of focus as oppose to being beneficial. I would like my students to feel supported when starting and finishing our lessons.
