Experienced Psychology Tutor and Oxbridge PhD Graduate Offering Tailored Support to Improve Academic Outcomes and Wellbeing

Advert description
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the tasks of writing essays, preparing for exams, or completing research projects in psychology? I'm here to help!

I am an experienced academic coach providing personalised mentoring and support to psychology students completing AQA A Level qualifications, EPQs, and undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and essays.

Over the past five years, I have been working to help students enhance their academic skills and achieve better outcomes. I have a BSc in Psychology from the University of Birmingham, a Masters and PhD in Criminology from the University of Cambridge, and postdoctoral research experience in Social Work from the University of Melbourne. As a result of these experiences I have a detailed understanding of the unique needs and skills required for students studying the social science, particularly psychology, which is itself a key lens through which many of these other social science disciplines are often explored and understood.

I have experience working as an undergraduate supervisor, mentor, and outreach officer at the University of Cambridge. The training and qualifications I received during my time in these roles have equipped me with the knowledge and pedagogical tools needed to effectively support and mentor students.

During my time working as an academic coach, I have developed a particular interest in supporting students in higher education who face barriers such as mental health conditions and specific learning difficulties. I work with these students to manage challenges like anxiety, stress, concentration issues, and time management. Having myself navigated the education system as dyslexic student, in a school ill prepared to deal with such challenges, I understand the frustration one feels at being underestimated and left behind. As a tutor I feel I am able to relate to students that feel they are not achieving as highly as they could be, and enjoy helping them reach their full potential.

The world of academia can be an incredibly lonely and intimidating place, however, I firmly believe that everyone can thrive with the right support and guidance.

Sophie was so thorough in helping me figure out what I needed to know and then helping breakdown the key concepts in a way that was helpful and informative. Sophie is incredibly patient and knowledgeable and helped me become more familiar with research methods, statistics and ssps. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sophie to anyone looking for a tutor in this field.
