For over five years, I have been a member of one of the fastest-growing youth debating societies in Lithuania which has gained success abroad too. For two, I was a Board Member of this society, which allowed me to create and implement many wonderful educational projects, like debate trainings, for diverse groups of adolescents and young adults. Through this experience, I learned that everyone has a very different style of learning, therefore I try to keep the methodology of my lessons as open as possible. I like to discuss the appropriate learning options with each individual student before we begin and build the methodology and content of lessons depending on that. Naturally, I think a core reading and a set of relevant tasks are crucial for understanding each topic deeply. However, I also like to have informal discussions about each topic alongside the previously mentioned methods as I believe informal discussions help us create a more relaxed studying environment and make each topic interesting and versatile.
I love social sciences not only because I engage with them in my free time, but also because I believe that learning social sciences is the best way to understand that part of the world that is not empirically measurable and that has no clear right or wrong answers. Regrettably, social sciences are sometimes still undervalued compared to other subjects. I would like to change that by showing students how gripping, fun and important they can be.
