I have tutored for over a year, helping one student through all three sciences at GCSE level, and another for A Level Psychology in the build up to the exams. How I teach depends on the student as I find that not one method can be applied to ALL. And so depending on how you are like to be taught and how you understand and retain information is how I will teach. If you do not know what methods work best we can find it together and help you romanticise and have fun while learning or revising.
I have found through my own personal experience burning out is a key issue when it comes to revising and learning: if you are burnt out you not only do not have the motivation to continue working but you also cannot retain new information. I have learnt a few ways to avoid this, and again, will tailor my methods to you! Every individual learns and revises differently and I will take it upon myself to help you find the most effective way for you!
I like to use lots of whiteboards and visual aids but I also teach through repetition and active recall, which has been found to be my most effective method. But this is when it comes to revising and learning not understanding and mastering, which I aim to help my students do too. Mastering involves taking apart the topic and really looking into the finer details. That is how I help the student understand. And through little homework they will be on the way to MASTERY.
