When I begin any lessons with a client, firstly, I need to make sure of their level of knowledge and their awareness of the health and safety rules.
After a quick assessment on how to use utensils and appliances safely I move on to the dish we are going to cook. This entails information about the products and ingredients, the theory and methods of cooking and plating the dish and finally, tasting it!
I do find it best for the client to have all the ingredients scaled and set up before we begin, then I take them step by step through the method while preparing the dish and cooking it.
I think it's important for my client to interact with the cooking process, the ingredients and generally ask any questions they might have during the lesson.
Tasting and handling the food as often as possible will give them a better understanding and experience.
