I prefer not to force my 'style' on anybody as art can be a "Chaques a son Gout" subject. The student must find their own style and genre.
I only guide with basic principles including perspective, colour theory, learning to 'see' shapes, tones and other elements of a work. I might demonstrate a little but, from my own art school experience, I recall the feeling when a superior artist demonstrated and left me feeling hopelessly outclassed.
I have taught at all levels from school (Carshalton High) to Universities such as Falmouth, Norwich, Surrey, Hull. I was a skilled graphic designer, magazine art editor, part time tutor in graphics and learned more from an artist Ken Bates (deceased) in 10 minutes that from anyone else. I use his principles in teaching how "to see"! I now am producing paintings and photographs that win awards. I am not 'cheap' but quality costs more! I charge a group £50 per hour, Individual Students £25.
