I have experience conducting tutorials for secondary school students in Geography, I do give my students a topic to read on before teaching, then the next lectures I teach on that topic, I use diagrams and map to make the concept clearer, At the end of the lessons we go over some questions that the students may have and clarify them by answering the questions patiently. After then we go through practice questions to see if the student understands the topic.
The next lessons I do a quick revision of the previous lessons using about 10minutes by asking the students questions on the previous topics.
Then we move on to the new lessons.
The strengths of this method is that it helps the students read their books before and after the lessons, it gives them better understanding and it makes the students develop interest in the course. It makes the students to be actively involve in learning.
I like my students to have a writing pad during the lessons to enable them make some jottings while the lessons is ongoing.
At the end of the Term, I like to write down some test questions which the students would be informed of the date, to help them prepare before time,
After the test I go through the students papers, mark it and give them the results ,feedback and some corrections.
The students that did below the expected mark I try to find their weakness and help them do better. Which makes them to pass.
