I've enjoyed tutoring for 4 years, as I really like breaking down a concept or topic into its parts so that students can gain a greater understanding and insight. I've found that as students understand the content on a deeper level, they become more confident and adept at applying it to problems, including in examinations. As underlying understanding and agility in considering a problem are essential in high level university admissions and interviews, the improvement of these skills is in my opinion the core of a successful application. My students have also increased their attainment by multiple grades using this approach, as they find their ability to grasp concepts more than they initially thought. I used the same approach to methodically develop skills that facilitated my admission into Oxford University.
