Pianist, conductor, clarinettist, and bass baritone. Member of Pendyrus Male Choir, BBC National Chorus of Wales. Conductor of the City of Cardiff Concert Band and Synergy an acapella choir in Abergavenny.
Prior to my PGCE studies, my experience in education has been: one-to-one teaching music students in Clarinet, Piano, and music theory, working for Apollo Teaching Services as a one-to-one Teaching Assistant mainly based in PRU’s, LSA for New Directions working as a long term agency at Ysgol Ty Coch and after five months was employed directly by the school. Providing support to teachers, providing personal care, and assisting with transport.
At Cardiff University I was a part of many different ensembles from a Jazz Orchestra to a Camerata (a baroque ensemble), Assistant Chorus Master for the university symphony chorus for two years and conductor of the concert orchestra, and I re-established the university Male Choir. Furthermore, I was the musical director for two student run musicals, Man of La Manacha and Into the Woods coming just before the first lockdown. By being part of these ensembles at Cardiff University I have been able to experience and perform in a variety of styles, genres, and venues. In addition, it enabled me to compose and arrange music for these ensembles of varying attainment levels, getting the music to sound the best it can with the instrument available to me. This has enabled me to work with people as a part of a team or as the leader. Communicating with people and working together to create the best performance we could do at the time. Having made and continuing to music with so many different people over the years has taught me so much about music and myself, that now I would like to share in my experience help others to reach their goals in music.
