The first lesson will be an introductory lesson so I can learn more about you, teaching styles you most enjoy and what you respond to best. In case of A-Level and GCSE students, I will take subjects and topics that you are particularly passionate about or interested in and use those as an introduction to your chosen texts, tailoring later lessons around your particular needs or weaknesses in the subject. As well as diagnosing and exploring key themes within your texts, I will also go over some basic analysis techniques and key literary terms to enrich your essays. Some students respond well to set work, others do not, and that is something I am perfectly willing to discuss doing if you think you will benefit from it. In case of foreign language students, each week I will aim to cover a new book, tailored to your entry level understanding, that explores different themes and complications within the language. My teaching style is very literary-based but if that is not suited to you I can also draw up grammar lessons and vocabulary games that have been proven to greatly benefit language learning.
