The format and content of my lessons will be adapted to your needs, whether that is a broad overview of a psychological theory or approach or an in-depth study of a tool, experiment, psychologist or sub-topic. We can vary the format as your needs change.
As psychology is a vast and evolving area, I will carry out my own research between lessons to identify the latest developments in the specific area we are working on.
I will structure the session into parts and assess your understanding of each part before we move on to the next. At the end of the session, I will ask if there are areas where you need further clarification, so that I can reflect on this and cover it at the start of the next session.
All sessions (apart from the first) will include a brief recap and discussion to ensure you have retained the key points from the previous session. Every session will be structured differently depending on the area covered and your learning style.
I like to use analogies in my sessions and to engage in two-way dialogue as much as possible to maximise engagement.
Although I am interested in all areas of psychology, I am most passionate about phenomenological approaches and discussing the 'hard problem of consciousness'.
I received my BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the Open University in 2010. Since graduating, I have worked closely with an experienced counselling psychologist, assisting him with doctoral research, psychological course design and the writing, publishing and marketing of several psychology books.
