I have been a Secondary School Geography Teacher for 2 years, and completed my PGCE with QTS at Manchester Metropolitan University. Through this experience, I have developed a range of teaching techniques that help support students increase their subject knowledge, improve exam practice and learn revision techniques that support independent learning.

When initially delivering information and knowledge, I provide expertly designed questioning to support cognition and understand varying student needs and design the level of questioning based off this. If a student is struggling to understand a geographical concept, I take ample time to understand what the issue is to provide clear questioning and explanations and ensure I check back on this concept in the following weeks until it is clear understanding has taken place.

I provide research-led practice, accessing regular training sessions and academic articles to influence my teaching practice. I provide regular retrieval at the beginning of each lesson to support long term memory and utilise this to build up case study knowledge. I have experience providing 1-1 support to students with additional needs such as literacy needs, dyslexia, low working memory, ADHD and Autism. I work to build a positive relationship so that you as a student feels confident and able to ask for additional support when needed.

I want to ensure that lessons are engaging and accessible. I provide frequent activities so that the student can apply what they've understood into producing work and ensure to include games and quizzes in each session to apply knowledge in an engaging form.
