My aim is to make students feel as comfortable as possible, so they are able to ask questions. This can be done through initiating class discussions to build students confidence as well as providing them with a space to share their ideas. Lessons consist of practice questions, and using examples such as case studies from real life and current situations. I have only been a classroom assistant, so therefore have never been responsible for designing my own lessons, but my approach would be verbal and visual, using powerpoint and demonstrations in some cases for a deeper understanding. Inquiry based learning is what I believe is the best approach, as students are able to investigate answers alone, rather than simply been given the answer. I, myself, will simply act as a resource. I will facilitate and guide student knowledge and learning, rather than just telling students the information. By using this method, it effectively engraves the information into students heads, as they eventually come to the answer themselves. Therefore, they will be able to apply this knowledge onto their exams, or in real life. In order to assess students weaknesses or gaps in knowledge, interactive technology such as Kahoot can be used, which is also very popular amongst secondary students. Aside from learning, I believe that connecting with the child is equally as important, so building a good, strong and professional relationship is priority for me.
