I am very adaptable in my approach to lessons; I usually spend a bit of time dedicated to knowing you and your needs before creating any in-depth lesson plans. However, the format of lessons is relatively consistent: a short time spent catching up to strengthen our working relationship and to discover what you have struggled with this week. This is then followed by an introduction on the topic we will be working on today, informally assessing where you are at with this particular topic so that we know how best to approach the lesson ahead. After, we will spend the majority of the lesson discussing and working through the topic, with a handful of questions that initially we can work through together (speaking the problems aloud allows us to deepen our understanding), and then a handful of questions to do individually that we will talk through the answers and how you came to these conclusions. After the main part of the lesson is complete, we will forecast the week, to see if there's any additional help I can give outside of the sessions - such as reassurance around a test or questions about homework. To conclude, I will ask you to complete a set of questions as a small piece of homework in preparation for the next session. As I mentioned, I am very flexible in my approach, so if there are previously identified methods or techniques you know work well for you, I am more than happy to facilitate where possible, as I want the best for YOU individually- everyone is different!
