Hi, I'm Mia and have a Psychology degree from the University of Exeter. At A-level I studied biology, psychology and English lit. The reason I chose to study psychology at Uni is because I want to understand more about how the brain works, but more specifically what leads to people's actions and choices, whether it be social, biological or clinical. I love that there are so many subtopics within psychology, and find the human condition fascinating. Having studied a few of these many topics in psychology I feel it has given me a broad outlook on people, and how we must vary our approach depending on the situation. Studying biology A -level has also given me a solid understanding of the biological processes involved in behaviour. My skills lie in the fact that as a student, although I left with good grades, I generally needed a few nudges in the right direction to get to the final answer, and I believe this will help me improve other students as I have been in your position before, and I know what might help, without the expectation you must grasp something first time. I also enjoying working with people, and have always wanted to teach. I will be able to help by giving useful tips on how to remember content, ways of understanding it and which parts are the important ones for exams. I also will aid your understanding by improving analytical and critical evaluation skills
I aim to tailor to what the student requires: content, revision or exam practice. I cannot emphasise the importance of doing practice exam questions to improve, however I will ensure the student has the correct core understanding and tools to revise so the answers can be the best. It is so important to see some form of progress each session, so each student will walk away with their knowledge solidified in an area they were struggling in and I will always adapt the lesson to anything they have learnt in class.
