I'm Matt

I have 15 years of experience behind the drum set, playing in countless bands both live and in the studio, and I also have a First in Music Management from Solent University.

I have 6 years experience teaching drums, one of which teaching years were in schools. where I taught drums and other instruments, in both 1-1 peri lessons as well as full class curriculum.

Beginners will learn basic beats and rudiments before moving on to grade 1. Even if they do not want to go down a graded route, the grades provide a good basic structure for teaching.

At around grade 2 or 3 level, sometimes before this ability level, we can start to learn songs outside the grade structure, and go whatever way you want with drumming. and this aspect only increases the further ahead we go

grade 5+ we focus on advanced techniques suitable to the ability level, and usually learn a lot of different rudiments, fills and more straying away from the grading structure, and teaching focused more on student tastes and styles.

As you get better, opportunities for songs, rudiments and general drumming that you can learn open up more and more.
