I've been teaching English Language for nearly 30years. My lessons start with the basics, that is phonics; understanding the letters of the English Alphabet and it's sounds. Once a student has a good grasp on the basics, I begin to lay the foundation, which is blending certain sounds. With a solid foundation laid, a student will soon begin to build confidence and indepndence in reading skills. I also teach comprehension and grammar.
I have experience in teaching KS1, KS2, and students with English as a second language. I have had experience teaching mature students, using the same techniques. Within a short period of time, these students were decoding sounds and reading!
With new skills in reading, a student will also build up their vocabulary, by means of discussing sentences, pictures and daily activies. My aim is to help students have a sound knowledge in speaking English, understanding when to use the right spoken vocabulary as well as written.
