Luke Butterfield

My name is Luke, I have recently graduated and I want to share my love of German with as many people as I can. I am from Belfast and studied at the University of Galway.

I have a degree in Law and German and a passion for the German language and culture. I have spent a year living and studying in German, so I am familiar with the everyday use of the language. I am familiar with not only grammar but history (specifically the GDR), art, film, poetry, literature, and many other elements of German culture that can influence the relationship a person has with the language. I have written research papers on the GDR and achieved top grades in German throughout my studies.

I like to focus on the individual needs of each student, whether that's: preparing for an exam or tutoring specific grammar or cultural topics. I am open to tutoring both online and in person. I will assign homework and go over it in the first part of the next session to record any issues and measure progress. I use clear presentations and detailed notes to aid in understanding and I will tailor the pace to each student based on what's right for them. I don't believe in pushing people beyond their limits but I encourage every student to see their full potential and aim for those higher grades.

I am familiar with the CCEA board for GCSE and A-Level exams as well as the University level curriculum.
