I am an enthusiastic and passionate tutor for KS3, GCSE/ IGCSE English Literature and Language. I also have limited availability for home schooling. I have over 8 years of English teaching experience with a range of age groups from year 7 to 13. I studied a degree in History originally, however upon completion, my love of English led me to working in a school mentoring English followed by qualifying to become an English teacher. I have found that many of the skills for both subjects are transferable and often overlap. I offer a tailored approach to lessons, adapting to the individual needs of the student and lessons could typically involve revision technique, exam technique, specific skill based activities (e.g. analysis, evaluation) and I am also able to provide guidance for oral assessments if needed. I currently tutor alongside working part time as an English teacher in a secondary school-where I have had great success. I also have knowledge and experience of both AQA and Edexcel (Pearson) exam boards and their mark schemes/ curriculums and criteria. I have taught both specifications. In addition I have experience of being an exam marker which has allowed not only for me to obtain a better insight into the exam boards requirements but has also allowed me extensive experience of the texts studied, particularly for Literature.
