I am experienced in tutoring for SATS and GCSE and do this alongside my own studies of creative writing and English Literature with the Open University which I will graduate from in May 2023.
I use an array of teaching methods and tailor my approach around the student, everybody learns in different ways, so I like to find a balance that is going to benefit the student. I often provide practice papers for those studying for exams, and work through the questions with the student to prepare them on what they should expect and also work on areas they are less confident.
For younger children, I may use a few different approaches to keep them interested in studying, this can be something as simple as using whiteboards and marker pens to write answers on, pictures, creative approaches or worksheets based on their interests.

My lessons usually start with a 5–10-minute warmup task or discussion, and always end with feedback, so that the student has a clear idea of progression and has the opportunity to communicate with me on how they are feeling and if there is anything they feel they would like to work on. For me, this is the most important part of the lesson, because it allows me to get to know the student personally and be able to modify my approach and personalise the future lessons for them.
